At Gastroenterology Atlanta, we emphasize an integrated, patient-centered, “food as medicine” approach to nutrition. This means your nutrition care is focused on you and your unique lifestyle, preferences, medical history and more. Your RDN will personalize recommendations for lifestyle changes, nutrition related behaviors, supplements when needed, and sustainable specific adjustments to your food choices to promote positive and lasting changes.
Patients with digestive and gastrointestinal issues, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, diabetes, elevated blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, autoimmune conditions, hypothyroidism, inflammatory conditions such as arthritis or IBD, fibromyalgia, migraines, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, food sensitivities, food allergies, food intolerances, celiac disease, pregnancy, and many more can benefit from seeing an RDN. Additionally, an RDN can make recommendations to assist in preventing of chronic diseases like cancer or heart disease, and preventing nutrient deficiencies if you prefer to follow a diet without certain foods or food groups.

Our Services:

  • Schedule initial consultation to discuss your needs with a physical health examination to follow.

  • A nutrition assessment which may be followed by food sensitivity testing, with an accompanying phased elimination regiment.

  • Our RDN can develop and customize a nutrition plan for you that will suit your lifestyle and tastes.

Elyse Kratz, RD

Elyse Kratz, RD is a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), who uses extensive training, scientific-evidence, and clinical experience to develop and customize a nutrition plan to help you meet your health goals and promote wellness.

At a nutrition initial assessment the RDN will:

  • Review your medical history, lab work, nutrition and lifestyle habits and health goals.
  • Assess your current nutrition status.
  • Make recommendations for individualized, evidence-based changes to your nutrition and lifestyle habits to support reaching your goals.
  • Make recommendations for monitoring your progress.

At nutrition follow-ups, the RDN will:

  • Reassess your nutrition status and any updated lab work or medical history.
  • Monitor your progress.
  • Adjust your plan as needed.

When to Consult with a Registered Dietitian:

  • You have diabetes, cardiovascular problems or high blood pressure.
  • You are thinking of having or have had gastric bypass surgery.

Our Weight Management Services

At Gastroenterology Atlanta, we understand that achieving your weight loss goals can be a difficult and sometimes frustrating process. And we are here for you every step of the way. Our weight management services offer much more than just a list of healthy foods to eat. While we will tailor a nutritional meal plan that fits your tastes and schedule, we will also explore your previous eating patterns and provide counseling to support new and healthy changes. For some patients we may prescribe some supplements or non-surgical weight loss balloons, as our goal is always to avoid surgery. Through the different phases of your health journey we will begin to understand the triggers and obstacles that have kept you from achieving previous nutritional goals. Together we can we begin to root our your fear of success and help you create new tools and methods that we hope will guide you back to your goals and on to a long life of good health and added vitality

We’re available Monday – Friday ( 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m ) and have specific office hours with all doctors on staff. Outside of normal office hours you can receive an on call Doctor or Nurse at your nearby hospital if needed.
